The Summary of Vital Statistics presents data on many important health indicators such as life expectancy, leading causes of death and the infant mortality rate in NYC. Efforts are under way to assess and improve the quality of vital statistics data, particularly the birth medical and health information.34 As these efforts take effect, the quality of the data are expected to improve.
